Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas

The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) officially launched the 2008 edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas). The TIC Americas model is an international business plan competition that goes beyond traditional business plan competitions to incorporate extended training, mentoring, and product testing.

Over 4,000 young people from 42 countries registered in last year's competition. The second edition of the competition begun in November 2007 and the on-line Semi-Finals runs finalizes on April 1, 2008. The on-site final judging and recognition event will be an official activity of the XXXVIII General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) held in Medellin, Colombia, 2008. The deadline for the registration of the teams is March 1, 2008.   

The competition is open to young entrepreneurs through age 35 from countries of the Americas Region and the international community. The participants are invited to submit business plans in the following five sectors: Environment - Trade – Tourism – Agribusiness – Technology.

The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) is a non-profit corporation working in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS). YABT acts as a catalyst to spur the development of young entrepreneurs through business training, partnerships, leadership and technology. As a strategic alliance with the private sector and donors to increase resources for young people in the America, YABT relies on technical and financial contributions to support its work.
