Gender issues in the interface professions between science and the economy are increasingly salient to achieve the European objectives of maximizing the utilization of human capital for building the Knowledge Society. Transfer, incubation and entrepreneurship (TIE) fields have grown in importance and expanded in recent years, as science has become an increasingly significant pillar of knowledge-based economies. Gender relations within TIE organizations are still largely unexplored, with a few notable exceptions. This conference aims to enhance the state-of-the-art in research on the interface between gender, science and the economy by providing new evidence resulting from a recent European Union (EU) ‘Science and Society’ project on Women in Innovation, Science and Technology (WIST) focusing on the TIE professions in four countries (UK, Germany, Finland, Romania). The experiences of the four EU countries will be complemented by studies and analyses of scholars, practitioners, policy-makers and entrepreneurs around the world, thus placing the conference theme into a global context.
The conference aims at promoting further research on science, economy and women. Within the context of the conference, a call for papers has been opened.
