The second Capacity Building Programme for the Business Incubation Managers of Asia Pacific Incubation Network (APIN) was organized by PSG-Science & Technology Entrepreneurial Park (PSG-STEP) – the APIN Secretariat - during December 10-14, 2009 in Ooty, India.
The programme had witnessed 35 Business Incubation Managers, 10 speakers including incubation practitioners, entrepreneurs and policymakers from Bhutan, Federated States of Micronesia, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand and Korea, US, Switzerland and India.
Mr. HK Mittal, Adviser & Head, National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Government of India inaugurated the 5 Day Capacity Building Programme. Dr. R. Rudramoorthy, Vice-Chairman, PSG-STEP & Principal, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore addressed the delegates in the inaugural of the programme. Mr. Seth Sayers, infoDev addressed the delegates through teleconferencing for the inauguration of the Capacity Building Programme.
The sessions in the training programme included Technology
Commercialization, Understanding Fund Raising for Start-ups, Issues in
Angel and VC Funding – Questions you always wanted to ask but did not
know whom to ask, Meet the Good Incubation Manager. “The Ooty event was
indeed a very good learning experience for the Bhutan team; we now have
clarity on what, how and why of business incubators. We have also been
able to connect with experts and practitioners through the training
programme. We will follow up with APIN on the way forward for us in
this very exciting field.” said Mr. Kezang Deputy Director of the
Department of Information Technology, Royal Government of Bhutan.
